The Department of chemistry was established in the year 2010 and provides a strong foundation in chemical principles essential for engineering disciplines. It supports students through core courses, laboratory training and applied research, helping them develop analytical thinking and practical skill for technological and industrial applications. The department has a long-standing legacy of providing high-quality education and carrying out advanced research across several key thrust areas of chemical science.The faculty members are highly qualified and well experienced in the field of science and engineering applications.The faculty members of the department actively participate in various international and national conferences, workshops, and symposiums to stay updated with recent developments, enhance their knowledge, and strengthen their teaching and research practices.
The department of chemistry has been recognized as research center by the centre for research, Anna University, Chennai and offers both full-time/part-time Ph.D. programmes in sepcialization such as Electrochemistry, Natural products, Environmental chemistry, Organic chemistry, Coordination chemistry, and Nanochemistry etc. The core objective of chemistry department is to foster excellence among students and research scholars by providing in-depth knowledge of the fundamental principles of science in their respective discipline.

State-of-the-art laboratories equipped with modern instruments for hands-on learning.
The department laboratory is well equipped to impart quality education in chemistry with neatly designed, spacious, and well-ventilated environment capable of accommodating 30 students at a time. The laboratory features polished ceramic tile flooring, along with separate chemical storage and balance rooms.The laboratory enables students to gain hands-on exposure to a wide range of techniques relevant to engineering applications.Through structured laboratory sessions, students receive thorough training in both qualitative and quantitative methods, enhancing their practical skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Our lab is equipped with instruments such as pH meter, conductivity meter and potentiometer to carry out regular academic work. To promote research activities instruments like spectrophotometer, flame photometer, UV spectrophotometer, hot air oven and muffle furnace etc., are available.
