From Silence to Symphony – How Orchestras Come Alive

The Fine Arts Club of Annapoorana Engineering College hosted an inspiring seminar titled “From Silence to Symphony – How Orchestras Come Alive” on 25th October 2025. The event featured Mr. S. Jayachandran, Head & Music Teacher at Sonaria Music Club, Sona College of Technology, as the esteemed resource person. With over 30 years of experience in music education and performance, Mr. Jayachandran brought a wealth of knowledge and artistry to the session.

The program commenced with a warm Welcome Address, setting the stage for an afternoon of musical exploration. Mr. Jayachandran then delivered a 40-minute seminar on the art and science of orchestration, explaining how orchestras are conceptualized, arranged, and brought to life. His insights into instrument roles, ensemble coordination, and emotional expression captivated the audience.

Mastering Pencil Sketches: From Basics to Realistic Art

The seminar was conducted by Ms. V. Sangeetha, an accomplished Drawing Artist and Graphic Designer. With her professional background, she provided unique insights into how traditional sketching serves as the bedrock for modern graphic design and digital media. The seminar was an intensive 2.5-hour session (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM) covering the following modules:

  • Basics of Form: Understanding geometry, lines, and structural outlines.
  • Light and Shadow: Mastering the gradient scale and identifying light sources to create 3D effects.
  • Realistic Art: Advanced techniques for blending and detailing to achieve lifelike results.
  • Career Integration: How sketching skills benefit engineers in visualization and design-thinking.
